20 million Australians must be rooting for their country but rest assured the remainder 99.5% of the world (6 billion people) are rooting for the underdog – The Lankans. 🙂
NZ did well considering that they have population of about 4-5 million only. So the cricket pool of talent is less. People are more into rugby there.

The tragedy is, a spot media strike in Britain saw not a single moment of Kapil Dev’s bat-in-hand 175 captured on film, as the Haryana hurricane swept Tunbridge Wells.
Imagine Kapil himself was unable to see his performance again. With that win in hand we went to win the world cup defeating the defending champions West Indies. That was the turning match for India…

Pakistan has reached the finals 2 times (1992, 1999( and converted it once to victory (1992)
SL has now reached finals 2 times (1996, 2007) and has converted it once (1996) with 2007 still being open.
With their defeat of South Africa in the semi-final, Australia became the first team to complete fifty wins in the World Cup (combined).
Australia is one team that has not lost a single match in the World cup from 1999…An amazing feat.
