Spring Picnic?

Spring is here and so Spring Picnic must be around the corner. Since many of us get booked early by commitments, lets decide a date for the Spring Picnic.

What are the options? This time due to the Cricket World Cup some of the India matches are on a weekend. So will need to take that into account. 🙂

1) April 1 (Sunday)
(March 31 is India’s match in the Super-8).

2) April 8 (Sunday)
(April 7 is India’s match)

3) April 14 (Saturday)
(April 15 is India’s match and a big one. India vs Pakistan).

If we do it on a Sunday one advantage is that Smita and Ameeta (Gala) can join also. 🙂 If you have other dates in mind, enter them also.

My personal preference would be April 1 :-). What is your preference?

26 Comments:

  1. First and Third Sunday, kids have pathshala so either second or fourth sunday is fine with us.

  2. That means on April 8th there is no pathshala. In JCNC shala calendar there is a TBD event “Shala cultural program” between Apr 1 and Apr 15. Any idea when is that?

  3. It’s Mahavir Jayanti program on 31st March when pathshala students perform cultural program.

  4. If it is on April 8th we will be able to attend

  5. April 8th works for us too

  6. April 8th is fine with us too

  7. April 8th is fine with us too.

  8. April 8th sounds good for us as well.

  9. April 8th is fine with us too.

  10. April 8th is okay with us.
Although, any date after April 17th is preferred.

  11. Here are some more options:

    1) Sunday Apr 29

    2) Sunday, Apr 1 (After the pathshala at a place close to the pathshala). Need to get opinion from pathshala parents about whether this works out.

  12. How about doing it on a Pathshala Sunday with park closer to Milpitas, for e.g Ed Levin County park? Most parks like ortega/Las Palmas/Andersen ?? (park with beach in San Jose), the water activity may not start early April, so would it be a good idea to do it after the water activity begins? Ofcourse we need to find out when the water activity begins. Also latest development – Dimple will be out of town on april 7th/8th, don’t think we can have a picnic without Dimple 🙂

  13. If I may “Dare” another option -> Sunday March 25 :-)…. Remember Sat March 24 is GCA Garba.

  14. Pathshala is on 1st, 3rd and 5th sundays of the month
so 4/29 is pathshala day 🙂

  15. Opinions on Sun Mar 25 or Sat, Apr 14 ?

If its Mar 25, Can start the picnic a bit late at 11.30 so that those going to GCA the previous night have some sleep. (Anyway during GCA Holi Garba people chat more and play less 🙂 ).

Regarding water play, etc, we can have a separate trip to Raging Waters or some other water park this Summer. I have never been there and very interested to go this Summer.

  16. Earlier Dimple had written here regarding her trip on April 7/8th. Looks like its deleted form here. I thought probably she cancelled her trip…. 🙂

  17. Hi Prashant About Raging waters just want to let you know its not that great a waterpark…..we have been there
I would recommend the one below…though we have not been there personally but looks very interesting from the website….also lot more activities to do there

  18. Hard to find common ground this year. Maybe we wait for World Cup to get over before this year’s picnic. Which means a date of Saturday, May 5.

Hopefully most people are available on that day.

In the meanwhile we can keep meeting for watching cricket at various homes (and sometimes teen-patti while watching cricket 😉 ) and throw in a hike also. And of course there is the GCA garba + pathshala kids cultural program also.

  19. April 29th sounds good to me for Spring Picnic.

  20. If the picnic is moving to May, how about planning for a mommy & kids sleepover during April 🙂

  21. It will be hard to find a date where everyone can attend. Since many people have said yes to Apr 8th, I suggest you guys go ahead with Apr 8th.

Me and Komal will catch up in other events. :-). P and K-junior will attend the picnic.

  22. Anyone with unavailability on SAT, May 5.

If not then here is the plan of action.

Apr 8 (Sun): Hike #2 to Rancho San Antonio
May 5 (Sat): Spring Picnic 2007 (Sneha has suggested some barbecue at the picnic)

    Other activities dates :
Mar 24 (Sat): GCA Holi Garba
Mar 31 (Sat): Derasar Cultural program (is this confirmed?)
    Apr 16 (Sun): India-Pak match

Mar 31 (Sat): India-?? Super8 match
Apr 7 (Sat): India-?? Super8 match

So as you can see just the coming weekend is free of KVites. Other weekends you can expect to meet hordes of them. 🙂

  23. 3/31 — Derasar Program is confirmed.
Just this weekend !! better start working on that 1040 🙂

  24. In for April 8 hike to Rancho San Antonio.

A suggestion; we can also hike upto a small animal barn out there. Kids will like it. (easy 0.8 mile (one way) hike.
There are nice roofed picnic tables by this barn where we can have our Sunday brunch.

we can do this hike just by itself or following a longer/strenous hike out there; depending on how much everyone wanna do

  25. We received 2 objections to May 5. So May 12 is being offered as an option. Any objections to May 12?
