Yeh hai Bombay meri jaan….

Starting this thread to document some of the idiosyncrasies about Mumbai w.r.t shopping and other things to do.

1) Nirmal-Lifestyle Mall in Mulund:
They have a huge open space around which there are various shops. The theme in the open space is “Space”. They have huge planets hanging from the dome and rocketship as decor. You have to visit ShopRite in Nirmal Lifestyle. It is sort of like walmart and albertsons clubbed into one. The kind of things that you get there is amazing. And many of the things that are found in the USA are available here. The kind of food varieties available is mind-boggling. Yummmmy……

2) R-Mall in Mulund :
Another must visit place. They have Big-Bazaar located in it (which is like Walmart). Can get really good deals there.

All malls now have multiplexes attached to them. So they are good hang out joint for teens.

Feel free to add to the list with your favorite shopping spots or things to do in Mumbai.

  1. Santacruz West market is my favorite place to hang out. My parents live in Santacruz (E) and I remember I used to go in West almost every other day for shopping. Be it Jewellery, Clothes, Crockery, other accessories… You get it all. No need to go to proper bombay for those who live in suburbs.
There are shops in so small-small lanes we won’t believe. But once you are in that shopping lane, you can again easily spend couple of hours and end up shopping things those were not in your list.
Sia has 2 stores in Santacruz (w) and they keep amazing artificial Jewellery.

  2. There is also a Subway (sandwich place) in R-Mall. (Atleast there used to be one.)

  3. JW Marriot Hotel on Juhu beach is also one of the places to visit. As soon as you enter the hotel, you can see the beach. (You probably would want to go in the evening just before sunset, so after sunset you can see the lightings also)
Also kids will love playing in the sand at the beach.
