Why is George Bush known as “Dubya” ?

   Based on his middle initial.

   George Bush the son’s middle inital is W.
   The elder Bush was H.

   So the son would introduce himself as
   George W. Bush with W pronounced as “Dubya”
   (Texan accent and all) — hence the nickname.
