So Connextions is back. This time its related to professions.
Most of us are related to the software field. So unfortunately most of our friends are from the software domain. 😉 Because of that we dont get to interact as much with people from other professions. Hopefully all of us still have a few friends and acquaintances who are not into the software world. It is this connection of yours that we would like you to share. 🙂
So list down 2-3 interesting professions (it just has to be different than the software engineeering profession) that your friends/acquaintances are in. Apart from being a fun exercise, this could be useful in future for someone from this group wishing to know more about that profession and having some work with the person in that profession.
This time you dont need to have anything in common with the previous commenter.
For me this becomes real simple to start with since both my sister-in-laws (thankfully) are from different professions :

Have lot of non software ppl in Kutchvalley itself 🙂
The professions they are in
1. Dentist
2. CPA/Accounting
3. Child care provider/preschool teacher
4. Financial consultant
5. Banking
Yup. That is true. In fact KV also has 2-3 “Bhais” which is an interesting profession also. Aslam Bhai, Munnabhai, Circuitbhai, etc. 😉
1] I love my job.
Especially ‘coz I get to curse all the software programmers (every day!) in the EDA domain and otherwise too (bug fixers as I prefer to call them) for creating tools that crash and flip designs making chip design a nightmare. I prefer not to say this in Kutchvalley gatherings. I have a knack of getting beaten up.
2] My wife : Urmi
Urmi will soon be a CPA herself.
3] My hostel roommate – a budding astrophysicist soon to begin work with JPL
4] My batchmates – Now Asst Profs of Computer Science and Aerospace Engg.
My couple of cents:
1) Fighter Pilot Capt. Arjun Das – he fought in the Kargil War and is now retired operating a hotel in Alibaug
2) My uncle works in GM and designs vehicle dynamics
3) My mom’s aunt (yes!) is a retired property agent in Cupertino
4) My mom – housewife, jewelry designer, share investor, and Sanskrit teacher 🙂
