We had taken Jash for strawberry picking last year, and he had this in his memory. He was asking this for a long time that when will we go for strawberry picking. So again we went for strawberry picking at the same farm in watsonville, Gizdich Ranch (www.gizdich-ranch.com) . The strawberries are yum yum yummy… you can pick as much as you want and ofcourse it’s not free.. charge is about $1.30 per pound. Don’t forget to carry a basket to put strawberries in or you can buy the cardboard box for $1.00(i think). It’s a good idea to reach there by 12.00 noon so one can pick better fruit and then eat lunch at the picnic area.
The ranch has a nice picnic area near the shop where they sell pies, fruits etc. Also there is a small play area for the kids (small sand place with all those little rocking toys). Gizdich ranch has other fruit picking as well based on their availability (more info on their website)
Realised that Bonfante garden’s is close by so maybe people can do two things – pick strawberries and take the kids to Bonfante garden as well. Double Fun for the kids 🙂

For brentwood area http://www.harvest4you.com/ has all info.
We went to Brentwood last summer. They had lots of cherries and other fruits as well.
BrentWood Area still 2 weeks away…check beofre going…
Last weekend one of our neighbour went and was told that due to extended period of rains this year…the picking season has been delayed by 2-3 weeks…
Most of the farms in Brentwood are open. As last weekend one of my friend went there for fruit picking. He came back with delicious cherries, strawberries and peaches.
Your Comment: Thanks Bhavini we went this weekend and had fun.. we had fun…fresh strawberries, apple pie and strawberry short cakes…yummmmm…on the way stopped at Farm Produce near by and got great avacados and other veggies
Vandana,
Which farm did you go in Brentwood?
Bhavini,
We went to 15 Bacchini’s Fruit Tree in Brentwood. They had different kinds of fruits in their farm. Check out the website.

So we also went to Gizdich ranch 2 weeks back. Just in case someone wants to visualize the place, here are 3 photos from our visit:

It was a nice family friendly place. The picnic area for lunch was great too.
Another strawberry picking close to Pescadero beach – should be closer to the June camping place
Phipps Country Farm
SantaCruz side – Davenport
Swanton Berry farm
This year onwards they allocate one row per family versus a big section where one could go to multiple rows. You are suppose to scan the entire row and let the attendant know if you want to go to another row to pick more.
