A couple of us working in the South bay had this idea that why dont we meet for lunch for one of the weekdays (Preferably Thurs or Friday). Many of the companies that we work for have cafeterias. We could meet in any company cafeteria for lunch on rotation basis. Sometimes we can meet in a non-cafeteria lunch place also. That way we can see each other’s companies also and will just provide for some nice friday get-together.
Generally speaking these lunch get-togethers will run on a strict timing. Probably everyone meets up by 12.15 pm and goes straight for lunch. Should be done by 1.00 or so and then everyone can be back at work or home by 1.15 or so. On any day at least 5 people saying yes would make a fruitful get-together.
We can do it alternate Fridays. (We tried this some years back with some people from my cricket team and it worked out good). Thoughts and Comments?

Its a good idea. My office will be moving to N 1st in mid-May. Will be able to join then.

Looks like not may of us are in a place with decent cafeteria. Our cafeteria has pizza and make your salad as the only regular veggie options, althout a variation does pop up occasionally.

This weekend is the Easter Friday and so we will start our South Bay Weekend Lunch next Friday (Apr 21). (Maybe once in 3 fridays).
I know that some cafeterias have really less options and we can skip those. But for those that have average options that should be fine. The idea is to meet in a different environment. Of course we can meet at some non-cafeteria also sometimes. For Apr 21 I can volunteer Yahoo’s cafeteria near AMC Mercado (Santa Clara). Will put up this Event on Upcoming Events soon.
