Kutchvalley folks had NEW Year’s EVE party on 31st Dec 2005. And yes it was lot of fun. Thanks to Prashant and Dimple for organizing a wonderful event. As usual our enthusiatic kutchvalley folks came up with ideas for the party. Prashant ( who always has lots and lots of ideas) came up with some nice ideas – Karaoke, theme party etc which were selected by most of the KV folks.
The theme for the party was red and green color – almost everyone was dressed up in red and/or green, all the food items were red and green.
So what did we do at the party ? First thing we did was play a game, hosted by Amisha (she is a bhandaar of games) . A group game – making the longest chain using belts, duppattas, jackets etc etc.
Most of the people arrived by now and it was time for “The KUTCHI IDOL contest with Karaoke”.
Thanks to Jatin and Sejal for letting us use their music system, though they did not come to the party. Prashant did a lot of research for the karaoke and he did find a nice karaoke system – a tool which can be played on the computer, with lyrics being shown, no of seconds to wait during the music etc etc. The tool is real impressive. And yes every family present at the party participated in this one – which made it go on it little longer than expected. But it was fun to watch everyone singing (Unfortunately I did not sing as i had a real bad throat, but i am looking forward to having one more karaoke night). Some people are real good singers, some had nice dance steps to perform while singing and some were just staring at the computer screen for the lyrics 🙁 The judges Deepna, Deep and Girish(visiting from U.K) and ofcourse our two young judges(Devanshi and Shivani) did give good remarks to the participants. The winners were Nitul Haria for best male singer and Parul Gala for best Female singer. May be we should have had a best couple too since we had quite a few couples singing together.
The contest went on till 11.00 pm and so we had to skip housie(may be we can do it with the next karaoke session) because everyone was eager to dance now.. Prashant and Dimple managed to get a disco ball which gave the club house a little feel of a disco room and then the KV folks danced till 12.00, a toast for the new year and then was time for dessert. Dimple had baked cake for everyone, served with Icecream.
So that was the sweet beginning of 2006 🙂
For those interested in the Karaoke software, visit http://www.taranaa.com. They have some sample songs there for 90 seconds. You will need to download their player. (We had to take a 6-month subscription to their service for playing full songs. So we can have a Karaoke event again 🙂 ).
You can also download “winamp” player and search for MIDI or .kar files on the internet. winamp is able to display lyrics for MIDI files.
Thanks also to Bhavini and Jayesh for their contributions behind the scenes and continuing on even in sickness.
Looking forward to an exciting 2006 since the number of families in bay area has grown to a record number and that means more talent and more enthusiasm around.
If you plan to use WinAMP player, you will need plug-in to view lyrics which is available at http://www.physysteme.com/in_cdg.html
