  1. You should go for a group campsite since registration will be much easier. Samuel Taylor State Park in San Francisco is an option.

  2. We can go to Angle Island.

  3. @ Prashant, thanks for the suggestion. Briefly looked at it but yet to look more since they are making changes for next year.
Nilesh, Angel Island is a great location. However it needs a ferry trip to reach there and then a hike to get to the campsite. Not sure if there is any alternative route. If so please share. Will folks be up for this kinda camping i.e. angel Island one.

  4. Also another suggestion, from speaking to people in general in the past it seems like people like it when it is closer. Within one and half hour drive would be good.

  5. An another option could be the Big Basin Redwood Statepark. They have a bunch of group campsites with a capacity of 50 people and 40 people respectively.

  6. Thanks Bhanik. Big Basin redwood is already gone for May long weekend 🙁
Next available will be in July long weekend now.

  7. Yurt camping?

  8. Just FYI, that July 4 falls on Thursday. So we can do on Memorial Long Weekend or Labor Day Long Weekend

  9. Lassen National Park for Sept long weekend. As August -Sept is a good time for this park

  10. Millerton Lake : Approx 3 hours from san jose, shows group campsite availability for May

Also any reviews of Brannan Island campground ?

  11. With the lower than usual temperatures this year, what do folks feel about May long weekend for camping ?

None of the close by group sites are available, so looks like we will end up with individual sites. The only one that is available is Millerton, but it is far from bay area and the campsite is pretty barren.

  12. +1 for Angel Island … been there once, very scenic and beautiful

yes, We need to take fairy for sure .. it takes 20-25 minutes ..
